I need some help, My son and I are trying to put the new Distribuitor. When we put the new Distribuitor it doesn't go all the way down, there is a gap. The old one slide right in. We tried to aligned the new Distribuidor with the 1 piston Gap from new Distribuidor
as mentioned in your other post on this forum, you dont have the driveshaft lines up with the slot for the oil pump. get a long flat screwdriver and put it down into the hole and rotate the "slot" to line up with the shaft on your distributor, then drop it down in there
also, its spelled distributor ... not the wacky way you spelled it!
It appears to be getting hung up on the o-ring. Lube it good with some oil, both the o-ring and the intake manifold bore. With a new o-ring it can be tough to get it to compress enough for the distributor to drop down.

I know I think it did it in Spanish.. auto correct.. but thank you! Distribuidor and Distribuitor!
ha, no worries, just wanted to make sure you were steered in the right direction!
but yes, either it is hanging up on the O-ring gasket, or its not lined up with the slot in the oil pump drive. not much other thinks that could cause it to do that unless something really weird happened with the gears
No slot in the oil pump drive rod. It is a hex shape with a rounded top. This is a 60° V6 engine. This allows the rod to self align with the distributor drive.
MadVlad, need to put some down-force on the distributor to get it past the o-ring. A metal rod above the base of the distributor with light taps of a hammer is likely enough to do the trick.
Another trick is to ditch the hold-down bolt and go with a stud and nut.
