Alternator Question

This question is kind'a trivial since it doesn't apply to the year of thirdgen I have, but it's something I'm curious about.
At some point, the alternator on these cars was moved to the driver side and the A/C compressor moved to the passenger side, but the battery remained on the passenger side, so my question is; how was the alternator output wire routed to the battery?...

Re: Alternator Question

Most likely it would be routed similarly to 87> cars that have the alternator on the passenger side and the battery on the driver side, like mine. The positive battery-to-alternator cable runs from the battery, down toward and along the bottom of the backside of the fans to cross to the alternator side of the engine bay, where it's clamped to the frame rail, and then it runs over to the alternator.

Re: Alternator Question

The later pontiacs were D/S battery, D/S alternator but the cable still had to travel to the P/S for the starter. The cable ran along the front and clipped to the lower fan shroud/mounting.

Yeah, kinda, sorta. Mine has a loom for the fan wiring down there, and the starter and alternator cables run alongside of it. It's not all the way down at the lower radiator support, but it's in that vicinity, along the base of the fan/fan shroud.
