Headlight Module Question

So I bought a headlight module for my 88 Firebird off of a guy who had a Firebird. Little did I know that there are 2 different modules for different years. His car was a 91. My question is that if there’s any way I can wire this module to work on my 88? Maybe switching a couple wires around? Idk just looking for alternate solutions is all. TIA

Re: Headlight Module Question

Nope.

But you can go to the junkyard and get one out of a C5 Corvette.

If you were willing to swap some wires, yes you could make it work (provided it is a properly functioning module, of course).

Looking at the 1988 and 1991 headlight wiring diagrams, you'll notice the only two differences are that the 1988 has a white wire that needs to see +12v when the lights are off, whereas the 1991 uses a brown wire that needs to see +12v when the lights are switched on. Since your trying to use the later module in the earlier car you'd need to satisfy the brown wire circuit. The second difference of note is that if you look closely at the motor's wiring, the wires are opposite and you would need to repin the connectors such that the correct motor wire colors go to the correct module terminals as indicated on the 1991 diagram. Take care of those two items and you'll have a working 1991 module in your 1988 car......
