My dash dimmer wheel has ceased to function properly, the dash lights do come on when the parking light / headlamp switch is turned on, but the dimmer wheel does not adjust anymore.. just one setting.. ON.
Better than it not working at all, but would like to fix this.

Thinking the contacts in the wheel have gone bad?
Anyone experience this type of issue?
Well, , , I'll probably regret wading into this, , , but here goes
When you say "The dimmer wheel does not adjust anymore" Do you mean it's physically stuck and won't turn, or do you mean the wheel moves but won't adjust the brightness?
If the wheel is stuck, sure by all means replace the switch. But, , , if the wheel moves, you may want to investigate whether the transistor that the dimmer wheel controls hasn't gone shorted before condemning what could be a perfectly working switch. Camaros used a rheostat like most every other car of our car's eras, but our Firebirds had a potentiometer controlling this transistor, located not all that conveniently in the vicinity of the (so called) "convenience center" ;

Yes, the wheel does move but does not change the brightness.
That's what I'm looking for.. thank you! Looks like a fun afternoon of pulling the dash apart to get to this thing LOL
Ok, , , so, here is a location pic of where the "remote dimmer" lives, Thankfully only the lower dash panels on the driver's side have to come out, a bolt or two to swing the convenience center down out of the way, and the remote dimmer will be reachable then.Please note that this pic is from the vantage point of looking at the back of the dashboard from the front (engine) side of the car.
And here is the schematic for the dimmer circuit. If the transistor is shorted (Zero Ohms or close to it) on pins D & C when it's unplugged from it's harness, that would be the reason for your lights being at a constant (high level) brightness.
