Fuel Relay
Fuel Relay
So many questions but, what is the fuel relay panel really for. I know it controls the fuel pump to do a precharge. So that the cold start works properly. What else do it control? My problem is all elec. I have a 85Z28 with 350 TPI. I sent it to a local guy to fix my wiring problem. Anyways he keeps buring up ECM. NOT GOOD! He has elminated down to fuel relay back to fuel pump. He is pissed and doesn't want to work on it anymore. He said that he could bypass the fuel relay. Run a direct to the key switch or just a toggle will this work? I hope that I can get some info.

In case of an accident where the engine is disabled and the ignition is on, it shuts the fuel pump off(no oil pressure...no fuel pump).
Its' a MAJOR fire safty feature. If I knew how to bypass it, I still wouldn't!
If the relay is the problem, they're about $10 bucks at Auto Zone.

The fuel relay itself has been changed. It's the wiring. The owner before has spliced the hell out of wires. Some of the harness has been burnt up and now fixed. But, there is some type of short that makes the ECM fry. Thanks for the reply.
