power door lock retrofit?
power door lock retrofit?
I'm in the process of adding power door locks and remote keyless entry to an 87' firebird. Door lock cylinders keep freezing with the cold weather we've had lately, so finally have motivation to start the project.
I used a dremel to remove the two door lock actuators and associated hardware from two seperate salvage yard firebirds. Had to construct my own wiring harness since wiring was damaged from fire in both vehicles.
Solenoids are now bolted in place, but i'm running into problems with corrosion on the electrical contacts of the actuators. I scrape the whitish corrosion off and the solenoids work for a while, but corrosion re-appears a short while later. Any ideas how to deal with this problem?
