No start after LT1 swap! This one is tough!

Hi all.

Here goes. I have a 96LT1/m6 that I put in a 91 RS. I did the wiring myself. Everything is in and ready to go. Except, the injectors will not pulse. I sprayed some gas into the plenum and the car immediately cranked and ran smoothly until the gas had been used. I have fuel pressure at the rails. I used a Noid light on the injector harness and it did not light at all. I checked all the grounds at the pcm connectors and all were good. I even added some extra ground straps to the motor. I checked for power at the injectors and it was there.

I used PCMcomm and the only fault I got was one about the fan. Something like Fan 1 OPEN fault. The coolant temp sensor was working. So was the TPS. I disconnected the MAF and nothing. I have two separate pcms with VATS disabled and I get the same exact problem with both so I don't think it is the pcm.

Is it possibly the Opti?

I did notice the fan came on when the engine started by spraying the gas directly into the plenum. I figure that was because of the trouble code.

Does anybody have a clue? I will try anything at this point. I will scan it tomorrow to see if any new trouble codes were set after it cranked temporarily.

Hmm I know on TBI there is "on-time" for the injectors. thats controlled by the ECM and if in closed loop, the O2 sensor changes the on-time depending on air/fuel. there is also a fuse that they use. this is on TBI, not sure about TPI but maybe it will help. your injectors obviouselly arnt firing, which means no on-time, which means computer / fuse / electrical / wrong voltage / resistance somwhere. heh sounds worse than it is, im sure.

I'm thinking about your pcm ....your saying the vats as been removed...physicly removed or vats function removed from ECM ??? because if it's cranking you should be able to start the engine, there would be a ejector pulse.

I didn't even post any times for the Honda. If you can show me an 86 Kaw that runs 9s easy, I will take mine to the track again. I have a Vance and Hines header and pipe exhaust with a Factory jet kit and a bigger rear sprocket. Other than that, it is stock. It won't do nines.

For the other guy who posted, yes, those are time for the eighth mile. If my Camaro ran 10.3s in the quarter, I would hope my mph would be more than 67

I forgot to mention, I got my car running.

It was the injectors all along. I checked it with a Noid light, that is what I don't understand. But anyway, it is alive. I had to tap on each injector to get them to work. I guess they had frozen up over time. I took it out for a quick spin the other day and it has a little more pep than the LO3/auto. I think I like it!
