Pulldown Rebuild
Pulldown Rebuild
I know, I know...... I'm sure there have been thousands of posts asking about problems with the hatch pull downs, but just one more quick one. My pull down seems to be losing it's oomph. I was just wondering if it could be rewound like an alternator or something. It just doesn't seem to be pulling my hatch all the way down, and I can actually see light when I close my door because it doesn't pull it back down!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Thanx in advance.

Give the latch portion a tug and se if there is a lot of movement up/down or forward/back. If yes to both, then the motor housing is broken away where the 3 screws mount it to the frame. There are new housings available from GM (p/n 20160581). If it has movement only forward/back, but little up/down then the injection molded guides are likely shot. I sell new ones made of solid nylon. I also sell the housings, but I reinforce them with 4 pieces of aluminum and epoxy where they break. I also stock the gear nut (GM p/n 20160587). If the motor just continues to run, with no up/down movement then the gear nut is likely shot. Take yours apart and investigate. It's not that hard. E-mail me if you need further help or parts. Lon
