hard starting...fuel pump relay???
hey there....well i thought i saw another post a while ago that said something about how if your car is kinda hard starting while cold, it could be the fuel pump relay...i was thinkin about trying it considering i have replaced just about every other thing that would affect starting...well if anyone else remembers the post or has had similar experiences, feel free to let me know...i would appreciate it....take it easy

I had a hard-start problem a few times. One was the result of a POS accel ignition module (i put the old back in and the problem is no more) and when i didn't screw fuel cap all the way (thought my fuel pump was dying hehe
). Now the fuel pump relay (and an oil pressure switch) are responsible for turning the fuel pump on when the car is running and priming the fuel system initially before starting the car. If you can hear the fuel pump prime for a few seconds after you turn the ignition to "ON" (not start), the relay isn't your problem. But anyway, you're going to have to tell us a little more about the engine, condition, and what parts you've already replaced to help you anymore.

alright well...i just put in a rebuilt 350 and i have changed almost everything out....including the oil pressure sender unit,...i can hear it prime the fuel line like you say so maybe it's not the relay...i also changed out the cold start switch when i was doin the engine....the ignition system is kind of old but i don't think that is the prob....the cap and wires are about 1 year old....plugs are new....see the engine cranks, the pump primes, timing is set, and it only has trouble when cold....the only other thing i could think it would be is cold start injector? ( you know...the 9th fuel injector, basically)...well i hope that kinda clears things up...hope you can help...

Re: hard starting...fuel pump relay???
since I posted this I have replaced my fuel pump and got the pressure to hold steady at 41 PSI with pump off, removed the CSV and blocked passages, and bought a programmer and went to $6E code. cold start problem no longer an issue.
