Small Block Chevy hyd. lifter adj. cover

This is something that I built for myself in the 70's and have dragged my feet on building and selling.

It's a small block Chevy valve cover that fits 1958 through 1986 engines (or heads from that era) to adjust hydraulic lifters. It eliminates the mess and safety issue (oil on hot exhaust manifolds/hedders = fire) associated with adjusting the lifters.

It’s so easy to use, makes a dirty, smelly, disgusting job a pleasure to do. Another advantage to the Adjust-A-Covers is that because they are metal, they amplify the tic, tic, tic of a loose lifter which is real handy for old farts like me who are hard of hearing.

As you can see from the pictures below, there are two versions: normal and tall height Adjust-A-Covers. I’ve priced them at $29.99 plus shipping for the normal height ones and $39.99 plus shipping for the tall ones. Each comes with one valve cover with eight plugs, a valve cover gasket attached to it, and a set of directions. The normal height covers are sometimes banged up a little but they are flat on the cylinder head mating surface. The tall covers are new ones so they look a lot prettier for sure.

Tall:

Normal height:

If you have any tin covers lying around, I can modify yours for $24.99 plus shipping for you.

As it stands, I don't have any plans the center bolt valve covers yet. I'd need a cylinder head and a couple of the center bolt covers to experiment on before I'd feel sure that they'd meet my expectations.

I would appreciate any input that anyone may have on the whole scheme of these.

Those must be for just stock type self locking adjuster nuts unless the holes are bigger than they look.(no way to get at nut and lock simultaneously)

I have adjusted the "poly lock" style that you refer to by using a very tall socket with a hex head on it (usually a 3/4" wrench size on the top end) and a "T" allen wrench.

I was hoping to generate more interest in this. I'm not out to get rich on these that's for sure. The blank valve covers cost me $20 each, valve cover gasekts are $7 each, and the panel plugs are $5 a set of 8. Plus the cost of designing and assembling the fixture to align the holes plus the $40 for the knockout die.

It really makes adjusting hydraulic lifters a easy and safe job. Before I made the first one for myself, it dreaded adjusting them because of all the oil going all over the place and the threat of an oil fire.
