The only thing I can think of is the fact that a TPI motor with a roller cam requires the proper cam gear on the dizzy so it doesn't get chewed up and send fragments of gear all through the oiling system. Some say they have gotten away with running a standard small dizzy, but since I am going to need one soon and hate to take that chance, I'm going to insist on finding one that came from a roller/TPI motor. Sorry, I'm not trying to prevent a sale, just throwing that out there so nobody kills their motor. Unless of course that 90 truck motor was in fact a roller one(?) IDK anything about them.

I would never knowingly give advice that would harm anybody engine just to make a buck. I checked on a national auto parts store web site and found that both the tbi and tpi v8 engines used the same distrbuters on cars and trucks.

And I wasn't accusing you of that. Your post before said "as far as I know there is no difference". That is why I just offered what I have always been told. I guess I was wrong, sorry
