[CT] C4 Chevy Corvette L98 5.7L 350 Longblock - with REBUILT Iron Heads
C4 Chevy Corvette L98 5.7L 350 Longblock - with REBUILT Iron Heads
Complete L98 for sale!
The L98 is out of a C4 Vette. It originally had the aluminum heads, but I got rid of the heads and picked up a set of Iron L98 heads off of an 87 IROC Z28 Camaro. The L98 heads were completely rebuilt (3-angle valve job, new valve seals, etc.). I believe I spent about $400 on just having the heads rebuilt (not including the price of the heads). The bottom end (short block) has about 90K on it and is in perfect condition. I was going to have the bottom end rebuilt for longevity purposes but upon inspection realized that it didn't need to be done. I heard the engine run and drove the car that the engine was in before it was pulled out. The engine pulled VERY strongly. The car it came out of was extremely well maintained so I'm sure the engine was as well. The motor had a compression test done while I was there (perfect across all cylinders). The engine is in "running order", and it is complete, but it's not assembled (was pulled apart to have the heads rebuilt).
I was originally going to race my IROC competitively as an F-stock car in SCCA Solo-II events (Autocross), which was my reasoning behind picking up the engine. However, my plans have changed (moving in a few months - maybe out of the country) so I don't have time to do the swap. I have over $1,000 into the long-block, but I'm willing to let it go for $500 picked up. Great price for a freshly rebuilt L98 that's ready to go!
Here are the pics of the engine:

As you can see it's all cleaned up and ready for reassembly. All hardware that was pulled off the engine has been bagged and tagged. Let me know if you have any questions or if you want to schedule a time to come grab it!

Re: C4 Chevy Corvette L98 5.7L 350 Longblock - with REBUILT Iron Heads
For the L98 engine, what are the numbers supposed to be for compression? I am looking at one (complete motor) that has 140 lbs compression all across eight cylinders. Other engines I checked out were roughly 180-190 compression. The difference between the two concerns me a lot, so I am asking around. Thanks.
