Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

I have a near complete t-5 set up. Located in East Peoria Illinois. I have the tranny, shifter, bell housing, pedals, new clutch master cylinder, used slave cylinder and used line from the master to the slave but I'm missing the reservoir and hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder, cross member, inspection cover, flywheel, and the used clutch. I bought the tranny but never used it. I bought the tranny a few years ago but just sold the car and I could never find the time to put it in. The previous owner said everything was good but I never verified. The flywheel needs resurfaced and I would replace the clutch. I do know it came from a 92 RS with a 305 V8. PM me if interested. Asking price is $850 but may entertain offers. I would prefer pickup since I don't have time to build a crate and I imaging shipping would be expensive.

I would like the keep it all together as a complete conversion but if someone wants just the transmission and other pieces and does not need the pedals your first in line for them.

Look at the front bearing and see if it says "timken." If so, WC and if not, not NWC.

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

I'm not sure what you consider the front bearing so I attached 2 pictures of the front of the tranny. Each picture is showing 1 side of the transmission. The input shaft kinda divides it in half for photo purposes.

One side has: "W.G.DLV." then after a bit of space it has "13-52"
The other side has: "027-912" then after a bit of space it has "K1"

Note: no quote (") marks are on the transmission. I simply used them to show what is exactly stamped on the transmission.

That would be NWC...I am pretty sure. I don't mean to attest to the value of this setup. GLWS

This tranny is a WC. I checked the numbers on the tag when I got it. I seen the car it was removed from. Yes it came out of a 1992 Camaro RS with a 305 V8. Since then the tag has fallen off (it was a tag with a bar code tag and the numbers do determine the WC part on the top of the trans). I kept it and have is somewhere but not sure where its at currently. Please don't make claims that you are not 100% sure on unless you have proof to back it up. Making claims on some ones thread without proof can ruin a sale. Someone with little knowledge may take your statement as absolute win actually you are incorrect. Show proof that my tranny is not a WC or don't trash my thread. Make those statements in a PM with supporting detail

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

Here is a link to help in determining if this a WC or NWC: http://chris66dad.tripod.com/id38.html

Here is another website with helpful information: http://www.flatheadv8.org/ernie/ernie-t5.htm

As you can see, the mere fact that it is from a V8 car does not make it a WC T5. And according to this is the only evidence you propose that it IS a WC. There are ways to conclude that it IS-why not go the extra mile for potential buyers?

I have NO IDEA if this is or not there is just not enough evidence that it is.

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

Ok here are the numbers from the case in the attached pic. The 92 in the circle dictates the tranny is a 92 model year. The rest of the numbers 13-52-065-914 dictate the tranny.

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

Does that front cap have "Timken" on it?

http://www.5speeds.com/t5/index.html:

Important- Please Read before calling us:
Casting numbers on the side of the main case or extension housing CANNOT help you ID a transmission simply because the same case is used in a variety of models. Some pictures will show you ID tips. There is also a TAG ID program. The TAG id program requires the stamped number off of the tin METAL TAG bolted to the tail housing. No other numbers on the case, tail or cover are needed or will tell you anything. Our Book on transmissions has extensive detailed information and pictures on building T5 World Class Transmissions.Over this 29 year span we have seen improvments to casting designs, synchro ring designs, alloy changes, addition of reverse gear synchro's and sadly the sale of Borg Warner's T5 line to Tremec Corp.

To be honest I don't know. If you look at the tranny its been sitting around and its not the cleanest. I went out to look and see but I cant make it out due to the scaling. Its obvious your not interested nor do I think you ever were so I'm not even sure why your continuing to harass me at this point. I'm being as open as I can possibly be. I have gone above what I think most would do by taking pics and posting right away but you continue to question my every post. At this point you have 'won" I'm sure anyone who was interested in this has decided to pass on it.

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

Take a wire brush to that bearing cap, it might be a WC. "Timken" will be on the outer rim of that bearing cap. Also, one suggestion (not conclusive) that it is WC is if it has red AT fluid in it. If it is a good trans it is worth near $850 as you are selling it. AGAIN GLWS.

Yes it has ATF in it. There is even a sticker beside the fill hole telling you to use ATF.

Re: Nearly Complete T5 Set Up from 92 RS V8 Car

still got it/? And i did my research on this when I did my last t5 swap. as i wanted to make sure I got a WC. all transmissions after 88 or 89 were WC. They all took tranny fluid and had bronze bushings or whatever. The upgraded bushings or gears or whatever it was is what made it better than a non wc-(besides the fluid) but they just started doing it to all of them in 88 or 89. They were all upgraded to bronze syncros or whatever(i dont rememeber the specific parts that were upgraded, but when I did research it didnt really make that big of a difference. So in the later year Camaros YES they are all WC. for v8s anyway. idk about the v6 ones. After all the research ive done on these transmissions a WC is a pigs hair better than a NON WC. And if your that concerned a t56 would be the way to go.
