SOLD SOLD - First Intake (Chrome) Trades? Exc. Cond and Cheap
I have a used First Intake that was Chromed. It was used on a show car, driven probably 100 miles total. I need to sell it to use the money on another project. It's pretty much like new. You will need to get some new gaskets from Ken. Chrome job is a 8 out of 10. I think all the bolts are there.
Asking $750 obo... needs to go.
ps. lower First plenum/manifold is just sitting on my race motor and is setup to match Felpro 1205 or 1206 intake runner, sorry for the tape, but need to keep it closed off.
Thanks,
Robby

Re: First Intake - Chrome w/pictures
Nobody wanting a First Intake? Am I asking too much? It would cost a bit more to buy one and have it chromed..
Possible trade options
SW headers - 1 3/4 with 3" collectors must be new or/and in perfect condition.
Holley EFI HP system..
700R4 - must be rebuilt with documentation to show
Good luck... no takers soon, I'll need to put in on e-bay.
Thanks,
REB

Interested in selling the fuel rails separate? I have the old style ones.
Re: First Intake (Chrome) - Trades possible Price reduced
Not interested in breaking apart the setup... I think it would be more desirable to purchase the setup as a whole than only parts as the runners, intake and plenum, fuel rails are all matched

I just can't decide if I would like the chrome finish. What flaws does it have that makes it an 8 out of 10?
And would you be willing to let those matching valve covers go too?

Re: First Intake (Chrome) Trades? Exc. Cond and Cheap
I'm an OCD perfectionist and build show cars...so I've seen very little that is a 10 in my eyes. Since these babies come as a semi-rough finish, to chrome it the first thing to do was polish/grind (to a point) and to get everything perfect would take unimaginable hours by hand. Over 50 hours was spent. Here are some super up close picture and you can see what I am refering to. Also to chrome down in every little crevice of the intake side is pretty tough too. blah, blah blah... It looks pretty awesome from just 1 foot away and most imperfections can't be seen unless you get within a foot and start picking like I do. The only obvious spot is right on the top of the TB. As for the 'ole school valve covers.. Sorry no can do, not at any price. These are antique Weiands and I paid a pretty penny and got them just in cast. Spent $300 doing machine work, grinding, polishing and a 3 stage/color powder coat with candy to get them to look like that.. It also took 3 months looking just to find them. I was trying to find a certain late 60's vintage Cal or Weiand brand/style. Most of them I found were warped or had fins broke/damages...etc.. I felt pretty lucky to find them.
Anyway, these are used and I'm asking less than 1/2 what it would take to get a Chrome First Intake and $200 less than just buying a plain cast. I'm taking a beating and if you like the chrome or polished look good luck finding something better or cheaper.. If you want an unfinished that doesn't clean up well or looks dirty every time you touch it, then best go that route.
Good luck in your search.

Re: First Intake (Chrome) Trades? Exc. Cond and Cheap
I understand the cost and labor involved, I was more or less wondering about the defects the finish might have, as it does look pretty good in the pics. I also now realize it might have sounded like I was asking if you could include the valve covers in the price, but what I meant to ask is if you would be willing to sell them too. I don't blame you for wanting to keep them, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask since they match.
I had never thought about going with chrome before, the plan was always just aluminum finish, but this has me thinking if I would actually like the chrome better or not. The ease of cleaning is something I never thought about, but it does make it appealing. I'm also very picky about some things and because of that I can be a little indecisive at times. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and I'll check back with you when I decide what I want to do. If it's gone, then I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Re: First Intake (Chrome) Trades? Exc. Cond and Cheap
OK. Thanks. If you like the "aluminum" unfinished look, but still would like something easy to clean too, you can do a "satin" clear. Here's a pic of how I did my role cage.. it's called a Butler finish, which although that is my last name I don't take the credit for it.. Used basically a scotch brite and 2000 grit wet sanding in "one direction" then a Eastwood Satin Clear.
Good luck and be glad that your not OCD..it take me 3 times longer to do anything and it doesn't make the car go faster, just look better while trying to go faster.
