LT1 T56 6-speed with 20K miles
<< SOLD >>
$1500. Not mine, advertising for a friend. You can reach out to me here but will actually end up working with my friend. He just doesn't have an account here. Old people, you know.
Figured this would be desirable for a 6-speed swap into a 3rd gen and we could find it a good home.
Transmission was purchased here from gflo383 many years ago but was never used. (My friend went LS1 instead)
Back then it was advertised as perfect working condition with 20K miles. Only difference now is it sat in a garage for years.

Hmm has me with little drool coming down my cheek I've been looking and that's fair deal but too far of a drive
On the other hand that shifter on there was the optional Hurst unit - that was a 250$ option IIRC a bonus to buyer

You just reminded me that I didn't ask him how much he wanted for it. I just made up that price myself. LOL! This might get interesting.....

That's a good deal, but not a disservice. I'd say start there and stay pretty close to that #

Weekend bump.
I'm thinking of buying this for myself to have as a spare. Maybe do my own upgrades for the fun of seeing how it ticks.

Difference is how it mates to the engine (front cover, input shaft, and bellhousing). Rockland Standard Gear sells the conversion kit.
The LT1 trans also has a different first gear ratio that is more desirable than LS1 trans.

I was just looking into this on a whim but it would work great mated to the sbc I was planning

Yeah it boggles my mind why this is still here. This has been squirreled away in a garage for ages. Most people would need a time travel machine to find a low miles 6 speed. But it's just sitting here and nobody is talking to me.

Re: LT1 T56 6-speed with 20K miles
Only hurdle I face is the fact that it’s a 13 hour drive for me to Peoria so I would need to get it shipped. That would drive cost up

So bolting this up to a regular small block (89 IROC) requires? Sorry for the ignorance. I get the pedals and all that but bolting it to the engine?

It wil bolt up, to a Gen 1. I have one on a 70s era block
Fwiw I sold a brand new T56 I had for 2k with polished bell all the little stuff.
A rebuild is around 1500.

Thanks, Chopski, I forgot I had planted an ad in this section so glad you bumped it up.
Yep, Rockland sells a kit to convert this to LS1 style. I think it's just 3 parts: an input shaft, front cover, and flywheel housing and you're in business.

Re: LT1 T56 6-speed with 20K miles
Would have purchased but didn't see this until now. I just dropped $2k including crate shipping for a used one, although seller tells me it was rebuilt 8k miles ago and has the green tag rebuild on it. Always nerve wrecking buying something sight unseen and to be honest, you don't know what you bought until it's in the car. Fingers crossed...I paid $200 for shipping from PA > MA as a reference.
