hey everyone, i just picked up an 89 RS that someone swapped from a 305 to 350TBI and motor has slung a rod. I am basically looking for a complete replacement or possibly just replacing shortblock and reusing heads, intake, etc. Havent pulled out engine yet, so not sure which route ill take. Thanks in advance. Trying to find something in NC/SC if at all possible.

i am looking for a mechanic in n.c to pull out my 305 tpi in exchange to put in my new crate motor.if you know a (mechanic)in my area you could have a good motor for free.all you need is labor

 

$3150 for the long block, or $2250 for the shortblock.

unfortunately, i dont know anyone up in your area. but that sounds like a pretty good offer. Ill get back with you on this. What kind of shape is the motor in??

i work with the original owner and he changed the oil every 2000 miles i do the same it has 98,000 on it and the motor is as strong as when he bought it engine runs great and doesnt use any oil at all.it does smoke for a few seconds it needs valve seals other then that i have never had a problem in the two years i've owned it
