limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
Hey! I'm Looking to buy a limited slip (posi)
carrier for a GM 10 bolt rear. prefferably a series 3. new or used. Let me know what you have! thanks!
P.S.,,, if you have a complete carrier assembly with 3.73 gear i will gladley accept this.
BOUGHT a set of 28 spline axles, eaton carrier, and gears on ebay. so, im no longer in need of one. thanks! dont mean to sound stupid, but does anyone know how to delete a thread? i cant seem to find it. haha thanks

Re: limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
Hey, I just looking around this morning to see if any topics on limited slip carriers. I will fill you in on what I run into lastnight. I have a 91 RS street/strip car I am building. Well, long story short I had a 82 complete rear end the had my limited slip unit with 3.23 gear. I bought a 4.10 gear and installed the unit in my car lastnight. The 91 factory axles will not fit the carrier. They are to big. I do have the original axles from the 82 rear end that I can use but they were an hour away from my friends shop where we were doing the project. We plan to fit the 82 axles in the 91 rear end. I will update on how they fit. I looked at them when I got home and the 82 axles taper or step down 2 times before splines. I guess my point to you is ask questions if you buy a used one and get the actual axles if possible. if not, I would pull a axle from the rear end and see if they fit in the carrier before taking it all apart. my 1 evening project has turned into 2 days now... hopefully everything will fit tonight..
If anyone has run into this problem shoot me some pointers...

Re: limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
Cars 82-89 will have a 26 spline axle and need a 26 spline carrier. 90+ will be the 28 spline axles. If you swap the axles you'll be all set.
Re: limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
Thanks for info.. I am going to put them in tonight. only concern I had was diameter of axles at the axle seal area. i will know tonight. Hopefully this info will help someone later that is going to get into this...
Just to know.. is there any difference you know of between the actual housings? Will a complete rear end swap from a 82 into a 91 without any mods? I am sure several have done the swap some time or another instead of breaking it down and change internals.
Thanks again.. took the question and worry away today if they were going to work..

Re: limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
The rear ends are all interchangable from 82 to 02. The 93+ are around 4 inches wider. As far as internals they all swap as long as the spline count is the same. I run a posi from a 98 camaro in my 91. Some cars had a 9 bolt rear end which the internals can't be swapped around but the whole rear end could be put in to any 82-92.
Re: limited slip (posi) rear end gear carrier (diffrential)
the axles fit great and took it to the track. With the stock rear end best time I could get was 9.25 with 2 people in the car. It still spinning whole track. I put the unit in with a 4:10 gear and some good tires. I made first pass @ 8.56 but still spinning off the line. I heated the tires little more 2nd pass and run a 8.33... 3rd pass 8.31. It started raining and had to head out. I don't think it will be to hard to get 7.90's out of this car. I am running a 650 eldelbrock carb beacause I can't get the 750 double pumper holley to act right. I can feel the power loss but just driving down the road when I changed them.
