Re: Sbc aluminum heads

Not sure what your budget is, but IMHO it's near impossible to beat these with a $1,000 budget: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...14032/10002/-1

They're Jegs-branded 64cc, 195cc Profiler Heads. They're a high velocity, great flow modern aluminum head; 1.440" springs supporting up to .600" lift (the airflow doesn't increase on these beyond .600" lift anyway so that's perfect). They have different springs available for the same price so pick the one with springs appropriate for your cam. I went with dual springs. Upgrading the 3/8" studs is really cheap and easy, too.

When they go on sale you can get 2 of them including shipping and tax (if you're in a state where Jegs doesn't have a warehouse) for $998.

They're standard height exhaust ports so the exhaust CFM is a little less than the raised port Profiler 195cc heads, but it makes header fitment easier- just increase the exhaust duration on your cam by 2 degrees to make up for it.

Here's the Profiler site detailing the CFM #'s: https://www.profilerperformance.com/...ree-heads.html

IMHO, they're the next best thing to AFR heads but $300 cheaper; the AFR heads beat them on the exhaust ports.

Lift Intake CFM Exh CFM % Exh/Int
0.200 145 110 76%
0.300 209 145 69%
0.400 254 180 71%
0.500 273 206 75%
0.600 274 213 78%
0.700 276 216 78%
0.800 276 218 79%

They did absolutely fantastic in the HotRod budget head shootout and that was the 185cc version that they tested.

Darin Morgan designed heads brand new for $998 assembled including tax and shipping and with decent springs?!!?! How about YEA!

Seriously, don't scrimp on the heads.
