If you find a WC Ford 31/55 set, the countershaft gear will work as long as you've got the GM 27 spline 31t mainshaft gear.
3.73 and 0.63 is super close to 3.23 and 0.73. Food for thought. I imagine you've mulled this over plenty.

I currently have the .63 5th 25/51 trying to get rid of the big rpm drop from 4th to 5th.
