Re: Looking for a 4L60E or 4L80E locally (FL)
I cold called some trans shops explaining I was looking for a core. Then I responded to an Offer-up from a 1 man trans shop locally who was advertising an 80e for $100 unknown condition when the others I saw online were $800-$1K not guaranteed to work. I went to his shop at the agreed time and he was a no show. My call woke him from sleep. We agreed to meet later in the day. I showed later in the day and he was a no show again. To good to be true.
A guy at another trans shop a bay over saw me show up two times and asked what I was up to. I explained and he said that guy was not reliable. He says hold on and makes a call and tells whoever he is talking to bring an 80e over right now. A few minutes later there is a complete 80e in front of me and the guy says just take it!
I could not believe my luck, I said at least let me give you the $100. He accepted and off I went.
What a good samaritan that guy was, I tore the trans down and could not find broken or worn parts.
Never know what could happen in these adventures with our thirdgens.
