TPI to carb questions within
Ok right now I've got a 91 camaro, 355 TPI. I'm having problems with the TPI, prom tuning, knock retard, etc, and at this time I dont have the time or money to make it run right. So I am considering temporarily carbing the motor. I already own an Edelbrock 600 cfm, and a 750, and a Performer RPM intake. I also have a non-computer controlled HEI distributor, coil in cap style. Basically I'd like to bolt up a carb, but not disturb anything else, so I can easily hook back up the TPI when I have time.
So here's my questions: what all do I have to get to make this work?
#1 what about the cables? I'm assuming my accelerator cable will not bolt up to the bracket correctly. The bracket I have with the carb is some sort of universal bracket, but I am thinking that the cable will be too long. Also, the TV cable is probably not going to fit either. What am I supposed to do about all this stuff? I can live without the cruise control cable, I'm not worried about that.
#2 What about the VATS? Isn't it run through the computer? How am I going to get around it?
#3 Fuel pump. I've read that I just get a pressure regulator and put it in line on the fuel lines.
#4 Torque converter lockup. Can I wire up a switch to lock it up? Like wire it up from the ALDL connector?
#5 The carb was originally on my truck. I had to use a carb spacer so that my air cleaner would clear the distributor. Will the air cleaner clear the hood on my camaro with a spacer under the carb? And will the distributor clear the firewall? Coil in cap type, remember.
There wont be a problem with the fans, as they are already wired to a switch.

2) Just leave the computer in, it'll still work.
3) You'll have to hot-wire it and use a return-style FPR
4) I believe you can hook-up a switch as long as the computer is still in or you can buy one from summit that works off vacuum or something
5) I guess, I dunno
If you're using the Performer RPM intake you'll have to elongate the 4 middle bolt holes (on the intake, of course) to fit on 87-up centerbolt heads. Set the intake on the motor and you'll instantly see what I mean.

Thanks 88Iroc. Actually the 4 middle bolt holes won't be a problem, as I have the L98 vette heads with the older style angle.
Slush, I've only been on AIM like every night.
I figured you would know what all I need to do, and I was gonna ask you but you were never there!
Come out to the track on Saturday, we can talk then.
