Vortech and TPi

ok heres the deal i`ve got a 91 305 TPI and im puting a 87-95 350 vortech in and throwing on the Tuned port. question is what problems am i gonna run into? i`ve heard lots of different things about vortech, both good and bad. second question is do i bother witht the vortech heads or just stick to the set of highly ported and polished reg style ones i have already? thats for the info- TOT

Vortec heads will require SDPC Voretec Intake base.. which will require EGR kit.. total.. $520.. then will need to put bung in headers or manifold for EGR....I am going with the Vortec heads since they flow well and they came with my L31 Vortec 350 4 bolt off a friend who owns a shop.

NOw about that EGR, ive totaly "disowned" it the computer doesnt even know it existed and i dont have to worry about emmisions and all that bull. im just trying to work around having to buy another intake, I know the vortec heads are different but if i can machine them to fit those heads i`d like to do that, i have a full CNC machine shop at my hands and some decent welders to. any info would be great thanks - TOT

Well.. Vortec heads are half the price of similar flowin heads and the difference is the price of the needed intake base.. if no EGR.. saves lots of money.. headers are cheaper... and $60 egr kit not needed =).. If you think some CNC and welding tricks will get the bolt holes to line up from the vortec heads to a different intake base.. have at it..

The heads you have are not the vortec heads everyone is talking
about. The heads you have are not special. Your manifold woll bolt up no prob.
The vortec heads you may or may not want are the heads from a '96 - '98 truck. They take a special manifold,or if you feel lucky try to weld and machine your existing one to fit.
