lg4-lb9

Hi I have a 86 Iroc 5.0 5 speed the LG4 is dead and I really dont have the money to do a 350. My friend sold me his LB9 motor out of his 86 iroc. I am going to keep it a carb car and I just need to know what I will need to make the swap work. On my LG4 I have a mechanicaly fuel pump can I run a mechanically fuel pump on that motor and also what type of headers should I use. I was going to get the Eldelbrok headers but do I need to get the one for the Tpi car or can I get the LG4 motor I do not run emission so that doesnt matter to me.
I also need to know what is a good clutch I am probably going to get the ram flywheel but is the ram power grip clutch any good or should I go with a centerforce or even the zoom what is the best one to go with because I dont intend to really sup up the car.
Thanks
Jon

Welcome aboard.

Everything from your LG4 will bolt to the LB9 long-block. A cam swap while the engine is out would make for a much better running car when you're done, even though you aren't "souping" it up.

Headers/exhaust systems made for an LG4 are terrible, even for an LG4. Get the TPI-type system, you won't regret it. I chose the Hookers over the TES, SLP argueably makes the best performing headers.

You'd probably be better off asking your clutch question on the tranny/driveline forum.

Good luck!
