Fuel Pump and AFPR for LT-1 Swap
Fuel Pump and AFPR for LT-1 Swap
Swapping an LT-1 into a TBI equipped 90 Camaro. I know that I need to upgrade that TBI fuel pump. I'm looking at a Holley pump (Summit p/n HLY-12-903). I'm also looking at the Holley AFPR (Summit p/n HLY-512-502) or the SLP AFPR for LT-1 (SLP p/n 25001).
My questions are:
That pump seems to be more than adequate to supply the LT1, is it overkill, or will it be alright with an AFPR? Also, I selected that pump because it is applicable for 3rd Gen 5.7L so I figured that I ought to have the same gas tank as the 3rd Gen 5.7s, so that should be okay...right?
Futhermore, does it matter which AFPR I get? Both the Holley and SLP AFPRs listed above are for LT-1. Would I be better off getting one for a 3rd Gen TPI (Summit p/n HLY-512-501)? I guess I'm trying to ask if I'll need an AFPR for a TPI or an LT-1? I would guess LT-1, but your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks...sorry for such a long-winded post, just wanted to make my questions clear.
<edit> Just a side note, the Holley AFPR is $130 and the SLP AFPR is $56. Is there a $75 advantage or no??

The SLP one for $56 is just a kit. You will have to disassemble the stock LT1 FPR (destory, no turning back) to use that kit.
The Holley one for $130 might be a complete AFPR, I'm not sure. I do know about the SLP one, I have one. It was a slight pain in the a$$.

I have an aeromotive fpr on my car. I only got it because the shop that converted my fuel rails destroyed the stock one. You really do not need an adjustable one on an lt1 unless its a 93.
You adjust it and after a while the computer compinsates by altering the pulse width. So no perminent gain.
