Anyone with a big block or pontiac
Anyone with a big block or pontiac
I am going to be putting a 455 pontiac in my 82Trans Am in the summer of 03. I want to get all my suspension done before then so when I put in the new engine (trans) I can get it weighed and get new front springs then have it aligned and be done with it. What do you guys recomend? I am thinking Moog parts throughout the front end (tie rods, ball joints etc) the works. Possibly a SSM kit or spohn sfc, relocation brakets and new lower control arms, and panhard. Which will give me good traction in a streight line but still take turns in town (nothing high speed really) would the kit from SSM be really bad for corners if I don't auto cross. Thanks to all that can help I tried to explain what I was doing in the suspension forum but thought I may get better result here. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance James

I've heard the SSM lift bar setup is not streetable, unless you want to feel like you're driving a drag car on the street. I dont think you'll need to go that extreme anyway.
As for front springs, probably some stock height WS6 springs from a newer car, say 85-up (or comparable Z28/IROC springs) and you should be fine. Might have to trim the rears a little to get a level stance, although I dont think the Pontiac is so much heavier than a SBC that the front end is going to bury itself in the ground.
