Fuel Injection or carb

Ok, I have owned my 3 gen for about 3 years now and it just doesn't go fast enough asnymore. I want to know the fastest and somewhat cheap way to get about 300 rwhp. The moter in it now is the LG4 305 4bbl carb. no sence I already have a carb would it be easter to stay with the carb or switch to a fuel injection? Also what moter should I swap in. thanks in advance.

Cheap and good horsepower don't usually go together, but you could look for a good used 350 and put a small cam and headers on it with your carb and with a little tuning you should have 350 horsepower easy. Read these boards, there are lots of engine combos with track times posted in guys signatures, find one you like and try to duplicate it.

A carb'd 350 is the definitely the simplest, easiest, and cheapest engine to build from scratch. However, if you're talking cheap 300 hp, an engine swap is probably not the way to go. Try a new cam and heads in the existing engine, and see what happens. The best part of a cam/head swap is that these parts will also work in a 350, should you later decide to build one.

cheap HP

If you want cheap, easy and HP,then bolt on a nitrous kit.Assuming the motor is in good shape to begin with. Back in 84 I bought a nitrous kit for my 83 15th Anniversary Hurst Olds. A local guy bought one of the new 3rd Gen Z-28s.I could just barely beat him in a street race.I added nitrous,he swapped in a 350.I could beat him by a car length everytime with my 307.
