Want to make the LT1 swap, but have questions.....

I have an 86 Trans Am, and I am in the process of giving it a complete restoration job. My starting point right know is the engine. I have the LG4, 305 4bbl carb, 700R4 automatic transmission, 10 bolt posi rear, 3:23 gears and an aluminum driveshaft.
What I am wanting to do is find out from you, more experienced rodders is, can an LT1 350 from a late model camaro, trans am or corvette be swapped into my car?
First, I understand that anything is possible, but I want it done right, as this will be driven daily.
Second, what all is necessary to make the swap?
Third, What about the computer and wiring ? Will I need one from the LT1 or will the stock one remain functional? (remember going from carb to FI)
Any people that have made this swap, are you happy with it? Tell me the good points and bad points.......Thanks for any help you can render.......
