what to do with fuel pump

I have a 86 Sport Coupe with a 2.8 litre with a t-5. I am swapping it over to a 406 small block chevy and keeping the t-5 though i know im going to blow the tranny. I was just wondering what you guys did about the fuel pumps, did you go manual or did you use a fuel pressure regulator with the stock pump or what? let me know what you guys did thanks...
