emissions laws
emissions laws
I live in chicago but am registered in NJ so I have a choice of states to emmissions test in. I think they are pretty much the same. These are the laws as I understand them:
Engine must be newer than car (if you build an engine is it considered the year of your block or?)
All emissions equipment must be in place and work?
Why not drop in a 400 smallblock making 500hp and slap all the emissions crap on there and say its the stock 350?
What do you all do about emissions - has anyone actually gotten in trouble and made to remove stuff? I think in IL after two tries and a reciept saying you tried to fix it they just let you pass. I don't think they even pop the hood so in theory I could just slap in a stroker or 400...
What does one do about emissions when you want lots of horespower for the street - they seem to be a big PITA - without them I would drop in a 502...

Yeah Bengy can go a long way but these Illinois emmisions test sites are a pain in the a$$. Very hard to pass with our cars being 15 years old and everyone thinking they will get fired and be on unemployment for the rest of the recession.
