Just a few tired old questions
Just a few tired old questions
I tried a search but didnt find any satisfactory answers. I WILL perform a 305 crossfire to a 350 carbed swap. I found a donor engine, a friend who knows what he's doin and will help, and even a ride to school for the time that my car is out of commission. I realize i will need all the major hardware like an engine, carb, HEI, etc. Is there a specific 3 port return regulator that is better than another? Is there allready a return line that i can simply connect the return port to, or do i have to put in a whole new return line? Will i have to make new fuel lines to the carb? Can i simply use rubber lines or braided fuel lines and cut to length? I have a 700R4, is there anything i will need to make this work with the new/old carbureted engine? Sorry for the length, and thank you in advance.

I can't make a recommendation on a reg, haven't needed to go that route yet.
You already have a return line. You'll need to fabricate lines to/from the existing as you suspected. Either use hard line or braided. Too much rubber isn't a good idea.
The TH700 won't be too hard to make work. You'll need a throttle cable for the carb, would be a good time to look for one in the bone yard and get a TV cable for carb to tranny while you're at it (with brackets). If you have cruise, you may need a different cable/bracket for it as well.

By hard line do you mean steel? If so, does it require specific tools and abilities to make it work? It just sounds like braided is much easier. Is there a specific kind of braided line i should use? Is there a specific car i should look for to get the TV cable and brackets? I think i have cruise but it doesnt work and i would never use it anyway. Thanks

Steel or aluminum. Steel should be bent with bending tools, available at any hardware store. Aluminum can be bent by hand. Flaring kits also needed and available at hardware or parts stores.
Summit or Jegs can handle what braided line to use for fuel.
Look for '82-'87 carbed V8 cars in the boneyard for the cables and brackets. I guess I assumed you are going to a q-jet, but realize now you didn't say. If Holley or Edelbrock, you may have to get some studs to hook up the cable ends as well.

Im actually going with a holley 650 dp. What Studs am i looking for? Do i need a new cable? Carbed v8's are getting rare around here, are there any others i could use? I just called around the local junkyards to see if they have any TV cables and brackets that i could use, and most didnt seem to know what i was talking about. I looked in the EFI to carb swap article and it says i need a throttle return spring. Is this the same thing? Thank you :hail:

The throttle return spring is a spring that pulls the throttle back to idle when you take your foot off of the accelerator.
I suggest you post a wanted ad on the classifieds forum of this board. Somebody out there will have what you need.
