383 or 400sb
do i go 383 or 400 small block--i have the 350 in it but i am not happy with it--i can't go crazy but i want at least 400hp either way with good gas mileage-16mpg--i have the 350 or i can a 400 for 250 with no intake---how hard to do a 400 swap?

What makes a 383 harder than a 350 is the required externally-balanced damper & flexplate) - unless you get an internally balanced crank.
What makes a 400 harder than a 350 is the required externally-balanced damper & flexplate - unless you have the crank internally balanced.
The one other slightly harder part of a 400 is finding a 400 block. If you already have a 350, then 383 rotating assemblies are relatively plentiful. If you already have a 400, no reason to sacrifice the extra cubes going to a 383.
Something tells me the cause of your dissatisfaction with the 350 isn't related to displacement or stroke.
