Lookie at what I found in my garage! 03 is gonna be great!!!!!

My 89 Formula 350 is got a rod knocking, not bad but needed to be replaced. So I was planning to yank the motor out and r&r the bottom end and toss it back in.

The guy that lived here about 1 year ago left a 350 chevy motor sitting dissassembled on an engine stand in the side of the garage. Seems he spun a rod bearing. Well this motor was in a 78-79 Chevy 1/2 ton 4WD.

Anyways he calls today outta the blue and I ask him about him coming to get the motor 'cos I need the engine stand for the L98. He tells me that he got rid of the truck and I can have the motor and all the parts. He already bought new rod and main bearings for it. I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth..... So I ask him what year motor was that? Oh it was the ZZ4 crate motor his Dad put in the truck before he gave it to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 20K and spun the bearings, who cares! It's free and I can still drive the Bird while I build it.

After the horrible year I had in 2002 I figure it's gotta get better right?

BTW, it is the real deal, it has aluminum heads. :hail:

I'm going to the machine shop tomorrow to drop it off and get it bored .30 and magnafluxed.

Zippiddy doo dah zippidy ah yeah...............

J-man,

Thats almost as good a score as a butterfinger bar that isnt cracked at the gas station, LOL!

Give me a call if you need any help or pointers on pulling that old L98 as we finished plucking mine on Sunday. Make sure you pull the trans with the motor, you will save much time.

Yeah I got lucky, the cow behind the counter with more piercings than a 2 pound block 'o swiss cheese was hitting on you not me.

I vaguely remember something about her wanting to put her mouth around your warm Dr. Pepper. :sillylol:

The worst part of it is that I have been staring at this motor for about 6-8 months now. Even Thomas (88aziroc) was looking at it in my garage when he came up from the armpit of Arizona. Oops, I mean Tucson.

Now me got to find some new pistons, rings, hot cam, 1.6 rockers and we are in bizzyness. :lala:

You talk the talk, now walk the walk! Lets see that ZZ4 built back up, or are you just gonna let it sit for the next 8 months!

Anyway, stop by if you got nothing better to do taday as I will be finishing the porting of the Superram and start the porting of the heads.

I found a 2-stroke 2.5cc weed eater engine here at my house. Must be older than me though cuz the head is rusted onto the crank case, lol.

you guys find motors and stuff in your garages while i manage to find a sawed of human knee and various other "spare" parts hiding in a box in the garage when i moved in to my house. "Dont want to know, for the love of ***, I dont want to know" Why cant we just move into a house that is owned by normal people. The last one we had the family was a cult and painted cryptic symbols on all the concrete floors.

Nah, it ain't dirty just packed full of toys. Ask Tom (88aziroc) he witnessed it first hand. In a two car garage we stuffed.........

21 foot Chris Craft Concept and trailer

3 Kawasaki Stand up Jet Skis

1 Sea Doo XP Limited and single trailer

1 '01 Yamaha R1

1 '98 KX 250

1 '98 KX 125

3 Upper and lower tool box cabinets

Ungodly amounts of RC cars/boats/airplanes and parts

Misc shelving and stuff

Oh and the ZZ4

But it is well organized.........

When I lived in New York, I never had that problem, must be a Jersey thing.
