350 swap problems
350 swap problems
I pulled a 305 TBI out of my 91 RS this weekend. Im installing a 327 block bored 20 over, 350 crank, 882 heads milled to 70cc, etc. I wanted to keep the AC in my car and bolt everything to my 350. UNfortunately after I pulled motor I see that the 305 heads have 2-3 bolt holes to hold AC, Alt mounting brackets. My 882 heads only have 1 hole on each. Well is this do able? SHould I take heads to shop and have holes tapped in? I really dont want to tear up my 350, its already to go in. I want run my AC in the summer if it is raining. Any suggestions?
You can drill and tap the heads, just remember that there is a water jacket in the front of the head.
I had to drill and tap one hole in the aluminum l98 heads so I could bolt the accessory bracket.
I bolted the accessory bracket to the motor and the head, then drilled the other hole out, then pulled the bracket back off and taped it out. If you do this just make sure the you keep the hole straight and that you start the tap straight too.

My question is, why if it's a 327 bored .030 over, do you keep referring to it as a 350? Does an original 327, when you install a 350 crank, make it a 350?
Are you keeping the fuel injection or going to carb.?
