advice for a novice
at school we have a thing called senior projects, well i want to do a motor swap
so heres the question, my car is my daily driver and will be for a while, i want to make it a lot faster
, i am planning on doing a simple motor build and swap
my maine problem is that i wont have enough $$$$$$$ to do a tranny swap to,
so what power ranges should i be looking for
what is the better way to do it (383 or 350) for the most ecenomical choice
what are good parts to use, and base line starting points
thanks any help will be great

T5 - forget the 383 (or say adios to the T5).
Simple motor swap -> much faster - doesn't work that way.
You have a fairly decent start with the L69. A couple of things that would help you are headers and cam (and valve springs to match the cam). You'd be surprised how much difference those things will make.
Beyond that, porting the heads would yield very good benefits. If you have access to machine shop tools, 1.94" intake valves and screw-in rocker studs are a good idea with the above upgrades.
To support the above, upgrade the ignition module and coil.
You'll notice that basically all of the above need to be done even if you do an engine swap - could even say "especially if you do an engine swap" (porting the heads one possible exception). So, spend the dollars now for the foundation, worry about the engine swap when you can afford the transmission upgrade.
