V6 to V8

I'm going to be swapping the 2.8 MPFI in my 88 SC with a 350 this Summer. I'm looking for an early 70's motor, but I'm not sure whether the engine will bolt up to the motor mounts on the older engine. Also, I will be temporarily be using the stock T-5, is the clutch that needs to go in just the V8 clutch? Sorry about not using the search, but it's not working for me. Thanks for the help everyone.

There have been discussions on the tranny board about using a V6 T5 on a V8. It's about as far from straight-forward as you can get. Better to just get a V8 T5, bellhousing, etc.

The smart way to do this is to get a factory V8 donor car that has the engine and transmission you want. You're going to need a bunch of stuff, not all of which is available new anymore, and the trips to the junkyard for the next thing you didn't realize you needed will make the whole thing so expensive you'll wish you'd never started this project.

The really smart way to do this is sell your V6 car and get a V8 car that has the features you want. Only sentimental value of the V6 car can trump that.

Thanks for the help guys, the only problem I have with your advise is that a Richmond 6-speed is going in the car several months after the engine swap is done. I don't really want to buy a V8 T5 to use for three months or so, I should just wait and do it all at once, I just can't afford it. And I thought about buying a V8 car, but my insurance will be sooo much cheaper with the insurance company thinking its still a 6 cylinder. Again thanks a lot for the help.

they arent going to ask. They go off the vin #. It is your responsibility to tell them about the upgrade...if you dont, you are risking an awful lot. Sure would hate to be paying for someone eelses vehicle for the next 5 years...as well as losing mine!...
Here in Ne...the only time they match the motor to the vin# is if you are applying for a title from another state....then they inspect the car for matching #...good luck with your scam....me Im just not lucky that way!:nono:
