400 pontiac swap ?'s

Well I'm considering a 400 pontaic swap into a 87 TA. I'm aware that I need to get a set of motor mounts and headers. I can that throw cheifmanyhorses.com but what else should I look out for when trying to get it to run? My main goal is to get it in correctly and have everything wired right and for it to just run. I will worry about tuning once it runs. Its a 78 400ci pontiac motor that came out of 78 TA. I have a th350 for it (I think thats what it is, its the stock tranny) But let me know what the main things are to look out for when putting it in. Oh and what does the abrivation BOP ( I think thats what is) for the pontaic motor?

Please dont tell me to search or anything no related I search but didnt find enough info on the topic.

Much info is very apprecated

Jason

Both B&M and Hurst make a adapter piece to bolt onto the tail housing for using a TH350 or a TH400 trans so you can bolt the torque arm to it. Oh and yes it'll work on a BOP(Buick Olds Pontiac) trans cause thier all the same the only diffrence is in the bellhousing bolt pattern.

Yes they made 350 pontiacs. 350 pontiacs were 5.7's
When looking at a shaker hood scoop on a second gen T/A, 6.6 liter would mean its a 403 olds, where as T/A 6.6 would mean it's a pontiac 400.
455's were 7.5's
389's were 6.5's.
301's were 4.9's.

Actually, a "Pontiac 350" is really a 354... so its a 5.8L engine.
