Chip for TBI to Carb swap???
I have been reading and it looks like some people have used a new upgraded chip (Thermomaster by Hypertech or a custom made chip) when converting to Carb from TBI or TPI. Can anyone say if this is a must or not. My car seems to be running fine with the stock chip (after all it's only controling the spark now, right? because I bypassed the fuel system). My car kills out at about 2500 PRMs only because I need to ad a bigger fule pump along with the helper pump in the tank (the stock one). Could any of this be due to the fact I need a custom chip made or a hyperformance aftermarket chip? I talked to Brain at TBI CHIPS and he seems to think no, but I wanted other input on the subject (guys who have done this before, carb swap).
Thanks

Well, the computer is still hooked up. Even with the carb swap, you still ust it for gauges and spark control. At least that is the impression I have been under.
Correct me if I am worng, because if I don't need a new chip I am in the money and can move on to other things she still needs.
THANKS

so you are still using the factory distributor...the only gauge that should be computer controlled yet is the speedo, but i am not really educated on that aspect. i would loose the factory distributor and tune the thing without the carb.
