LT1 swap finished got some questions...

It is finally done but I got 2 codes The first one is a code 26 which is an Air injection code no clue what it is. The second one is the vats passkey one so start it sometimes i have to take a postive lead and a resistor to start it. Some times it starts with just turn on key. Got any suggestions???

Do you have an A.I.R. pump? My 94 Vette motor actually doesn't even have one of these. It is the pump that introduces fresh air into the catalyst. I had this code eve though I had no pump when I was running the motor with just open headers.

it took me 1 1/2 to solve Code 26

Haynes maunal and Chilton says: "Purge canister relay short circuit or not present. Check canister purge solenoid valve and circuit"

I found out that code 26 is called "quad driver" it's a set code for 2 things.

1.If the air-pump relay is not there, the ecm with display code 26.
2.If canister purge solenoid is not there, code 26 will be displayed again.

on c100 connector (underhood fuse block), there's 2 brown wires, one for power feed to the canister purge solenoid valve (F), and 1 for air-pump relay control(E)

You need to find a solenoid relay or an air pump relay in order to solve this DTC 26, the relay will be plug on the brown wire (E) and onto the battery trough a fusable link.

C100.
|A|B|C|D|E|
|K|J|H|G|F|
| |
A is PNK and is power feed from injector fuse 9
B is DK GRN/WHT and is A/C compressor relay control
C is DK GRN and is A/C compressor clutch solenoid feed
D is TAN and is serial data signal.
E is BRN and is Air Pump Replay Control.(connected to AIR-PUMP solenoid relay)-->(RELAY CONNECTED TO BATTERY)
F is BRN and is power feed from FANS/SOLs Fuse 6
G is PNK and is power feed from ignition fuse 11
H is DK BLU and is secondary coolant fan relay control
J is DK and is primary fan replay control.
K is PNK and is power feed from injector fuse 10.

as per the VATS, check out all connections for loose wires, if problem persist, replace wire going from VATS to ecm or replace VATS module. I can sell you a a VATS module for 80$.

Just a question on the subject as I am doing the swap now. Can't you get the Vats and Airpump deleted from the ecm through reprograming?

yes you can remove the vats from the ecm

if you remove the psysicly remove the air-pump it does not give a SES (DTC) , you just have to keep the air-pump relay in the fuse box and you'll be good to go .

Hope this help

as for the VATS, sometimes the little wires in the column that read the key go bad, and need replaced. I thought I had a HUGE problem with my L98 swap after I finished it because mine kept setting a VATS code and only starting when it wanted to. Here's what I did: Read the key (which mine was a number 9) then measured the resistance and hardwired a resistor into the VATS line. The VATS is "fooled" into thinking the key correct every time. To properly repair problem, you need to take that steering column apart and see if there are some broken wires near the ignition switch. If so, get a new switch. The turning of the key motion over the years wears them down, and the wires eventually break. I haven't had a VATS code since I did it the "poor man's way".
