Victor Jr. Intake + Stock Hood...Only a dream?

Is this possible? With a stock camaro hood, can you use like a drop cleaner with this intake to clear the stock hood? I have a 305 TBI now, but the Victor Style is really tall. Cowl hood is not an option. If not, whats a good stock hood clearing intake, that can produce the HP that a VJr. intake can put out?

maybe

I recently did a 305 TBI to 400 carb swap in my '91 Firebird. My 400 has a Weiand Stealth intake. I don't know if the Victor Jr is taller than the Stealth, but I was able to use a 2" drop base with 3" X 14" filter, while retaining the stock hood.

I have a Super Victor Jr. vortec intake and a 850 Demon on my 406. I have a 3" cowl hood and had to use the biggest drop down air cleaner base I could find. Try to find the dimension of the Victor jr. you want to use and add the carb height to it and see where you are at.

A Vic Jr will fit under a stock hood. A super Vic won't.

Use a origional GM drop base air cleaner that was used on 60's
and 70's GM muscle cars. Room to spare.

You can still buy these GM aircleaners from

Noah Performance

Here is a pic of the air cleaner base

You can buy a similar drop base from any speed shop for about 20 bucks Canadian as that is what I am using.
