New Here, but I have a few Q's

Well I just bought back my 1984 TA. The engine is junk, so I am going to build up a 350 or 400 I havent decided yet, and get this thing goin. I was needing to know what all the computer controlled on this car. I think it is just the carb, but I am not sure. I sold the car when I was 16 and I am 21 now and bought it back. But bascically I just want to make it run mid to low 13's. I have my Syclone to race if I want to go fast, this is just a car to toy around with. But say I just get a 350 and go with a 292H comp cam, new gm preformance vortec heads, eledbrock intake, long tubes, 3inch exhaust, and get a carb that could be plugged in to the computer would it run ok, or would I need to do somethin differnet.I was just thinking of ripping all the cpu **** out of there and going like that, but would i need new gauges and some other stuff? Let me know what you think.

Welcome,I think that the only major thing the computer controlls is the carb and I think the distrbutor . You would be fine with the setup you talked about just get a JET performence Q-Jet . They make a 750 Q-jet that I here is setup pretty nice , otherwise your gonna have to rip out the ecm , and change to a non computer controlled distributor , and I am not sure about the guages I dont think you have to change them but I am not sure .It would probably be easier just to use the JET Q-jet carb.

Well, the stock Qjet, if modified properly so that the AV opens all the way, can flow something like 780cfm i beleive.

I think it would be ok if you dumped the CC carb and dist. and all guages will still work.
