Carb - TPI - what else do I need that I don't have?
I'm going to be converting from carb - tpi.
I have a complete TPI 355 out of a car, the computer it had, all the wiring (Not cut or anything)/relays. (The guy who had it is using a standalone engine management system, so he didn't need any of the wiring).
I have a 87 Z28 - Carb'ed (LG4).
Are there are other parts I will need? I have a mech. fuel pump - I assume I'll need an electric in tank one? Does that mean I need a new gas tank?Anything else?

I've done the LG4 to TPI swap on my 86.
This is what I did with my setup:
Holley external in-line fuel pump, $150. Went this route so I wouldn't have to drop the tank and put an intank unit in.
Get a block off plate for the mech fuel pump on the block.
I needed the Alternator bracket since my 86 was a V-belt/Serpentine setup and my stock bracket wouldn't bolt to the TPI intake.
I had to modify the fuel lines on the body since they jump from the drivers side to the pass side in the trans tunnel and the TPI setup feed is on the drivers side. I went with hi-pressure fuel line from the trans tunnel up the drivers side firewall to the tpi hard lines off of the fuel rail.

What about the chassis wiring harness - the one that has the knock sensor, starter wires, etc... Do I need that whole harness or is it already on my Z28? That's the next thing I saw I need to be worried about....
And in regards to the main wiring harness - do I have a spot to just plug that in, and all my tach/etc... will still work?

You will need the TPI engine side harness for the TPI to be installed, and completely remove the LG4's engine side harness. The Junction block plug that plugs in below the Master Cylinder should bolt right up and be good to go, Mind you I suggest some new aftermarket guages for oil, coolant temp, etc to asure proper readings. Even the IP connector IP Connector should be plug and play if I remember correctly. I installed my L98 into my 85 L69 powered 85 Monte SS. Mind you it required quite a bit of rewiring and repining alot of different wires.
Before.. excuse the pic quality.
