LT1 Questions

I've decieded to to an LT1 swap considering I can get mostly everything from a guy for $500. I read the sticky on the swap and just have a few questions. 1) is there any major problems I am going to run in to while doing this swap? 2) Do the engine mounts line up with a 89 305? 3) Was there anything that you guys that did the swap wish you did better or found extremly helpfull like a book or a link or something?

Thanks guys

when I did my swap I had to pull the motor mounts off the 305 and bolt them onto the LT-1 but I think that was due to the fact my motor came from a caprice, I only installed the long block and switched to a carb set up so I had a few other things to handle that you won't. just remember that the radiator hoses on the LT-1 are pointing opposite from a standard motor which means you'll have to do some hose rerouting. if you are using the FI on the LT-1 I'm sure there will be some other issues (electrical) that you will have to address but I can't help with those.

1. if you read the post then any major problems have been discussed in there.

2. engine mounts line up, but you have to use the 4th gen mount for the drivers side and a modified 3rd gen one for the passenger side if you plan on keeping a/c. If you're dumping the a/c, then either mount will work.

3. The most helpful thing will be getting your hands on a GM service manual, or atleast the wiring diagrams. Also, get the 4th gen radiator. don't try and get creative with the hose routing, it just looks like crap. Trust me.
