I am currently swapping my 4 bbl 305 out of my 83 z28 for the 350. I have to stick with the same distributor for now and am wondering if ripping the computer will mess this up. I also would soon like to swap in a vacuum advance dist. but dont know what to look for.

Some free advice: Stick with the computer and the carb & distributor it controls.
You can't use the factory distributor and "rip out the computer". They need each other. You can't use a vacuum advance distributor (which is actually a vacuum/mechanical advance) with a computer controlled carb. You can't use a non-computer-controlled carb with a computer controlled distributor. Summary: You can't mix & match.
If you need to pass emissions, the surest way to do that is with the computer controlled setup.
The computer system will handle the 350 just fine. The only upgrades to consider are secondary rods & hanger tuning (DR rods & B hanger is a popular combo), and aftermarket ignition module & coil (such as Accel).

Street driven? Daily driver? Emissions testing required?
Wrong move.
But, if you want to do it, performance with the Holley and CC distributor will be very, very lacking. Get a non-CC distributor and at least do the best you can with that carb.
At the very least, offer the carb & distributor to someone who will put them to proper use, rather than just throwing them away.
