TPI onto carb'd block
Right now I have a GMGoodwrench crate 350 in very good shape with a stock 2 barrel carb and manifold. I also have a TPI intake manifold from an '85 Camaro (free). The runners are dented, the throttle body is hosed, and most of the sensors are gone. Anyways....
I have been told that the intake base I have will bolt directly on to the block and heads that I have. Is this true, or is there some machining necessary to do to get the base on to my block? My other question is what do I need to do to get a knock sensor on my block? Are there any other sensors that go on the block also, or just that one? I intend to find a complete TPI setup from a MAP equipped car, and then swap the runners and upper plenum onto the base that I have. Is all of this doable? I know there are quite a few bits and pieces that I will need to get, I will probably just search for a parts car. Thanks for your help.

Sorta depends on what you got. I *think* that engine has the old style intake bolt pattern, in which case the intake will bolt right up.
As for the knock sensor, block drain plug passenger side.
If thats all you have, this little swap could nickel and dime you to death. Be careful.

well, complete TPI setups seem to go on ebay between $200-$400, so I was planning on picking up one of those with harness and computer and sensors, etc. My buddy has a bunch of TPI parts lying around his garage too.
