383 computer
I'm picking up my 383c.i. from the Engine shop on 11-2. When I drop it in my 89 Trans Am wich came with a 305 TPI and is stick will I have to get a chip? I'v heard both ways but yea I would gain performance by getting a custom. The problem is that no speed shops in my area have software to dyno tune a chip for my "old car." My friend told me that he knows a guy that got his TPI car dyno tuned with a chip and it cost $1000 and the shop is far away. I would like to get a computer that is capable of on-the-fly tuning but there confusing as hell. I went to the Prom forum section but they seem like there speaking a different language. I think it would just be to hard to tune. Would the car run good with the stock chip with 30lb. Ford fuel injectors and a cam with 220/225 duration at .050in. in the new motor? If it would I would just run it for 2 months like that then take it to the speed shop and have them dyno tune it with a custom chip when I have that kind of money. I thought this would be the best place for this post so any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

well they don't really make a computer like that you're going to have to most likely burn your prom. the 30lb injectors are going to make it run pig rich..
did you upgrade the induction system for the 383? superram?
i'm in the same hole you're in i have a 383 which runs like **** on the stock chip so i'm learning to do my own prom.

Check out Ed Wright at www.fastchip.com From what i hear this guy can make a chip for ANYTHING! I guess thats all i've got.
