Woa, new gmpp 383!

I almost fell out of my chair today when I found this. A high performance GMPP ZZ383, equipped with the fast burn cylinder heads, a 4340 forgded crank, and a camshaft that falls below the famous LT4 hotcam on the page (222/230@.050, .509/.528)!! Where did this thing come from?

:hail:

425 horsepower at 5400 RPM, and 460 ft.lbs of torque at 4500 RPM!!! Lets see a dyno curve from this guy already.

Sorry to get all teary-eyed on you fellas, but I have a special place in my heart for performance parts that come straight from the general. I can only imagine this badboy with a ramjet manifold and some dfi running the show. Plenty of strength left over for some forced induction. Hmmmm...insperation.

It (or at least a variant http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/perfpart...f/12496769.pdf - "... its Fast Burn cylinder heads are hungry for a little more camshaft, approximately 425 horsepower at 6000 rpm is achievable by adding the HOT cam and 1.6 self aligning rocker arms.") has been around.

Where have you been?

SDPC2000.com has this same engine for $4699. I wonder what it would run with a ported tpi setup or a miniram? Anyone?

Yeah, the fastburn 385, that has been around for a while. That is also a nice peice of equipment, although the ZZ383 adds 33 ci, a hotter cam and a forged 4340 crank to the mix. The quote you put in brings up another question though. The pimped out version of the fb 385 makes the same hp as the ZZ383 using the same heads, smaller displacement and a smaller cam. I wonder what gives here, maybe the ZZ383 is underrated? Like I said before, an independent dyno test of this thing would be very nice to have.

The ZZ383 has been around for about a year now!

Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight.

The story is pretty much in the peak numbers. The 383 makes the 425 HP @ 5400 with 460 lb-ft @ 4500. The Fastburn/Hotcam 350 needs 6000 RPMs to make the 425 HP, but the torque is still only going to be in the 385-400 lb-ft range @ ~4400.
