New A/C compressor on 67 327?
I'm thinking about putting my A/C back in from my 2.8 > 327 conversion and I'm wondering if I can use my newer style compressor with my 0 accessory holes factory double hump heads. Can I use any of the older compressor mounts with my newer pump or will I have to get, a new to me, older style pump? I know that if I get some newer style heads that I could, but I'm not really wanting to do that.
Has anyone put a/c back onto an older engine after a swap?

The R-4 compressor will not fit in A-6 brackets.
You'll need an A-6 and its brackets. Look for some 68-back full-size car with a V8. Keep in mind that the alt was on the driver's side and the A/C comp on the pass side in all cars before they added the bolt holes in the heads.
It would probably be easier and maybe even cheaper to replace the heads, and use late-model A/C stuff.

Not really.
There's nothing there to drill. In heads with the bolt holes, there's a bolt boss, with its exterior surface in the plane it needs to be in, and a big chunk of metal behind the surface. In the pre-bolt-hole castings, the surface isn't in the right plane, and there's no chunk of metal.

could I mount off of the water pump and the intake or header bolt? There has to be a way. My alternator is on the passenger side, mounted off of the water pump and header. I know it can be done, I'm going to try it. What do I have to loose, waisted time? I've already wasted about 3 years of my life already, what's another couple of weeks?

If there was a way, you wouldn't be able to pick up those old heads for about $2 a pair.
There's no way. People have been trying their best to fake it in the 30-odd years since they added the bolt holes, and nobody really has hit on a satisfactory solution yet, unless you want to spend about $200 on a full bracket set from March or something like that.
But go for it. Who knows, you might be the first.
