LT1 accessory bracket question
I am considering an LT1 engine swap for an 87 Firebird Formula. I have read all the posts and am aware that using a fouth gen F-body LT1 in a third gen car requires some modification to allow clearance for the A/C compressor. I have also read that the Corvette LT1 uses a different accessory bracket and based on what I have read this setup may or may not work.
My question is will the Corvette brackett work (I know it requires a different compressor and maybe altenator), and would this be more trouble than its worth and should I just find someone to mod the frame and use the F-body LT1 as is.
Thanks

More specific, I read in some post I can't seem to be able to fine at the moment that something on the Corvette LT1 setup didn't fit and required mods to the sterring setup.
It seems that if the Corvette setup would fit that may be the way to go (depending on how much more it costs). I do not have the equipment or the experience to do modification to the crossmember that would be required for the F-body LT1 and would have to have someone mount the engine for me.
Thanks for any input.

Going with Corvette accesories is more expnsive than F-Body accesories. I bought mine used for $750.00, there is a place that selles a new kit for $1,100 I believe. Do a search there is a post with all the info. As far as just mounting F-Body accesories onto the Corvette bracket, I know for sure the A/C compressor is different, just by looking at pictures the Alternator appears to be different, the power stearing pump I don't know about I could take some pics and email them to you what the Corvette pump looks like or send dimensions. As far as pluming the lines most stock pieces can be used, not sure about the high pressure line to the p/s gearbox.
To plumb the A/C, I got all the A/C lines including the condensor, evaporator and (not sure what it's called) the core, that sites inside the blower box all from a 94' Corvette and it all drops right in and hooks up except for shorting the evaporator mounting postion. But some I have seen some where the A/C shop just made some "rubber" style hoses.
I don't have it all hooked up yet as I am rebuilding the LT1 motor right now but I hope this helps give you and idea of what to expect.

With the vette engine, everything will fit, but I believe there are power steering issues. Not to mention the fuel rails on the vette engine are on the opposite side and you will need fuel rails from an f-body. I think its the same hassle either way you go, but if you can get the vette LT1 at a better price go for it, if not go for the fbody lt1.

Hotrodlane.com is one place I've found that sells Vette Accessories. They e-mailed me back and said that they sell the complete accessories for around $900. One question I have is: would accessories from a Roadmaster work? My LT1 was originally out of a Roadmaster, but it didn't come with accessories. Would Roadmaster accessories fit with no problems?
