swapping 96lt1 into 305tpi car harness question
I have a 96LT1 engine, and a 89gta 305tpi..
I have been told to get either a 94 or 95 computer, as these are obd1 and 96 is obd2, ie more money to program.. I would like to get 94 gear because i can get a hypertech for cheap..
Will I run into any problems with connectors or sensors if I use a 94 harness with the 94 computer with a 96lt1? Or should I just get a 96 harness?
Thanks.

Yea, actually, I think all it involves in the conversion is removing the rear 02 sensors and removing a wire from the ecm. I read it before but don't remember the specifics.

The conversion involves knock sensor wiring as the 96-97 PCM I believe has two knock sensor inputs and the 94-95 PCM has one. The knock sensors are different PN's too.. That's all I can remember top-o-my head.

I would never buy a Street & Performance or Painless harness.
The reduced quantity of higher amperage fuses is a bane to troubleshooting. There's a reason you have several fuses in an OEM injection system and cutting the # down to a few which are higher amperage is not helpful to the system in any way, shape, or form.
Last I checked, Howell harnesses were properly fused; the owner once worked for GM I believe. But they may have gone the cheapass route at some point recently.
If you are in doubt, get an OEM harness. That's the only way to fly to assure you're getting one that's "right."
