LT1 Harness
Swapping 89 305tpi for a 96lt1.. how much of the 89 harness do I remove and how much has to be cut? I'm at the driver side firewall with the harness.. everything else is out.. I am wondering how much splicing I am in for.. and where to do it. 96 harness is in route...
BTW going with 94PCM.
Thanks..

Ummm .... off the top of my head....
Ignition
Tachometer
Speedo?
Fan wires
All I can think of right now oddly.
I think the minimum of required wires is like 8. You need more if you want your SES light and ALDL hookup to stay functional I think.

i guess i should clarify..
Do I have to cut the old harness in order to get the lt1 harness to work with everything? or can I go ahead and remove it from the drivers side because most of it will plug in..?

just rip the connectors off the old harness.
When I sold the 305 out of my car, I laid out the entire old harness, identified all the wires and cut the firewall connectors away from the rest of the harness. The guy who bought the engine got the engine harness with a bunch of labeled wires hanging off it just like Painless sells but a little dirtier and he was happy as hell. I had to identify them anyway as I cut the connectors off so I just labeled it as I went along.
